It's not consistent across attempts. On a crypted disk set up for
testing with a passphrase of 'meep', on one occasion I had to type
'mmeeeppenterenter' to get the passphrase fully entered. On another
occasion, 'meeepenter' was sufficient. The backspace key is also

Updating cryptsetup to integrate with plymouth, I find that I'm
presented at boot with a padlock and an entry field, but no text
explaining what I'm unlocking. This information has been passed as

plymouth's boot screen currently includes no animation, making it
impossible to distinguish between a slow boot (for whatever reason) and
a hung system. It's important to have some feedback, at least after an
initial timeout.

To check on what was taking my system a long time to boot, I tried to
switch VT's with Alt+arrow keys. This caused the console boot messages
to appear briefly, only to be replaced immediately by the plymouth boot
splash again. So something

password, if the starred-out letters exceed the width of the text box,
they will continue to be drawn off the edge of the box. Plymouth should

plymouth password dialog lets you type off the end of the box

When shutting down from X, the splash screen is corrupted; only part of
the Ubuntu logo is displayed, and it's rendered on top of a screen full
of boot-time console messages. When shutting down from the console, I

There is also no change in the boot splash when calling 'plymouth
message --text=string', so e.g., there is no feedback on a failed
passphrase. I'm speculating that these two issues have the same root
cause.
