Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vlc
There is an audio latency/lag of about 450milliseconds when playing flv files in vlc or totem under Ubuntu Karmic. What I expect to happen is that there is no discernible latency, that the audio and video appear to be perfectly in sync. On Jaunty, I experienced a similar issue, but corrected i by uninstalling pulseaudio, and using alsa instead. Under Karmic, even after removing almost everything pulseaudio related, and switching vlc etc to alsa, there is still an unpleasant latency, which means I have to press 'j','j','j,'j','j','j,'j','j' at the start of each video, to work around this. I've tried using everything in a purely pulseaudio environment, and the latency is worse. I'd really like this bug to be fixed in order to fully enjoy the karmic audio-visual experience, and feel comfortable recommending karmic to others.
