the UIMA Ruta Workbench has problems with newer Eclipse (> 4.8?) and Java (11) versions for some time now. We will fix the problem in the upcoming releases (which will require to increase the min required version of Eclipse). There are several workarounds for this problem concerning the current UIMA Ruta Workbench versions.
