Hi everybody-- I'm working with a charity called the Heart Gallery...you can check us out at:
http://heartgallerynj.com/ Basically, we've got dozens of professional photographers (some world famous) who have volunteered to take portraits of New Jersey's hardest-to-place foster children. The photos become a traveling gallery show, as well as a website. We started this group two years ago, and (thanks largely to publicity from the Today Show, 20/20, CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, USA Today, etc etc) 85 of the 350+ children we shot in our first go-round have now been adopted. We're gearing up to do it again, this time focusing on the 100 children who have been in the system the longest, in an attempt to find them a "forever family" before they turn 18 and age out...when they're left pretty much to fend for themselves. So where do videobloggers come in? This time around, we want to include little video bios of each kid on the website (hosted by blip, natch). We've got two professional shooters on board, but would love to have a third, especially one who can provide his or her own equipment. Unfortunately, I think this will require more than just regular folks with Xactis (or else I'd be doing it), rather, we're looking for people with documentary experience, pro-level cameras, and shotgun mics. And as if that isn't enough, we're looking for them to work cheap. Yes, there is pay, but it ain't much...it will certainly be below the day rate of many of the pros that I hope read this list. So if you're available to shoot next Saturday in Newark, please either respond here (ideally with a link to your work), or drop me an email...I'm happy to answer any questions about anything I may have left out. Thanks, everyone! --Ben
