Well wikidata is almost certainly a contributing factor, (particularly for russian) I would hesitate to blame it solely for slow ores on watchlist speeds, without more evidence. Especially on english wikipedia with its large recentchanges table and relatively low usage of

But also, the non-mandatory icon is larger again… it looks like OO.ui (or whatever it is that loads the icons – perhaps it’s a property of the browser directly?) just ignores the SVG’s declared size, so if you’re designing an icon set, the icons need to have

Even though the growth has reduced to just 1.3% this week, the dump still seems to be substantially slower… since we deployed https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/380628 the dumps have been at least a few hours slower :/
I have no evidence that supports that
