Hi all,
first I should mention that I do not know Armenian at all and can just
recognize a few characters. Anyway I came across a problem which
probably cannot be solved by the standard \lccode / \uccode method.
What I mean is Yerevan which is written as Երևան but YEREVAN (all
caps) is ԵՐԵՎԱՆ
Hi,
I think that this is not a XeTeX problem but a font problem. For
instance, FreeSerif can distinguish conjuncts for Hindi from conjuncts
for Sanskrit and can use different spacing for interpunctin based on
the language. This leads me to thinking that it is a font problem.

Bonjour,
thisi is mentioned somewhere in the documentation. The problem is that
the mapping is applied just before the text is output. However,
category of ~ is set to 13, which means that the character is active.
Thus first the active character is expanded to the nonbreakable space

you need nothing special to write a package. Whatever can go to a

Let's suppose that A and B should be active.

I do not know how to do it in imakeindex but I could do it in xindy. I have
an Urdu-Hindi dictionary so I can find the sort oder of most characters but
I do not know where to put bari yeh (ے), dochashmee he (ھ) and maybe a few
more characters that never appear at the beginning of the word. This is
Hi,
everything from the TeX world is free and multiplatform. Of course, there
are nonfree text editors that can help you with creation of the source text
and running all task by pushing buttons on a task bar but they are not
needed and free tools are available.
Both plain XeTeX and XeLaTeX are

You have to redefine the header, it automatically inserts \chapter*{Index}.
You have to remove the asterisk. I do not remember the details, I would
have to search in the documentatin but it is written there.

Hi all,
about a week ago I mentioned my article in Czech mentioning the rendering
modes. I showed how to do it via \special and \pdfliteral. Embossing may be
acheved by storing the text in an \hbox and \copy'ing it several times at
slightly shifted positions with different colours and redering
Hi,
I am afraid that this is impossible. \color inserts aa expandable command
of a main processor which must not be used inside a word.
This means that in the TeX's eyes the matra is a part of another word and
must not be connected. You have to do it manually.
Try this in your file and see the
Yes, both in pdftex in xetex the stroke colour and fill colour are
independent. You can even change the rendering mode of text and print glyph
outlines in one colour with a specified line width and fill them with
another colour. It is shown in my article:

Hello,
thank you for the report, these are most probably my misprints when copying
the words from babel to polyglossia.
gloss-hindi.ldf is the write place, if it does not help, then you have the
file in a wrong directory and the unchanged
file is used. Anyway, I will report it upstream.

Hi,
I would first try to set the outlines correctly. The PDF specification says
that the outline must either be in AdobeStandardEncoding, which does not
cover east european languages, or each text must be preceded by BOM. XeTeX
inserts BOM automatically. Hopefully luatex (or hyperref) has an

Strange, on my computer it works. I do not have Shobhika, so I get errors
on missing fonts and the characters to be printed in shobhika disappear but
the text in Jaini works, I get twice the right conjuncts.

Hi,
it seems to be a problem in TikZ. Anyway, if you just want vertical lines,
you need no package at all. you can do it just by \vrule in your footer:
\makeatletter % allow @ in the macro names

\def\@oddhead{\normalfont \normalsize \hfill
No, neither make4ht nor Acrobat Pro helps. The reason is that generated PDF
contains glyphs but both copy, save as text, save as word, or sace as
whatever requires characters and this information is lost. Moreover, the
order of glyphs does not follow the order of characters in the word. It can
Hi,
this is not a matter of a TECkit mapping used as an input but a matter of
\XeTeXgenerateactualtext, it should help.

Hi,
the expansion of \varc becomes a part of the word which then cannot be
founs in \patters. Since it is a compound word, both parts have a chance to
be in \patterns, so you must inform TeX that these parts should be
considered words. This definition works:
\newcommand{\varc}[2]{\nobreak\hskip

Hi,
please, notice that the number of character classes was increased from 256
to 4096, so 255 no longer works as a boundary but 4095 must be used. I use
the following code that I took from some other package:
\edef\CSat{\the\catcode`\@} % in order to work in plain XeTeX
\catcode`\@=11
Hi,
to put it simply, XeTeX is just TeX but it works internally in Unicode,
accepts the source files in UTF-8 (BOM is accepted but is not mandatory)
and can use TrueType and OpenType fonts installed in the operating system.
This means that the \font primitive has other functionality. It is not
IMHO it is a problem of Apple Preview. Not all PDF viewers understand
