Subject: [ANNOUNCE] xorg-sgml-doctools 1.8
This release mainly changes the location where the target dbs for olinks are expected to be located. Currently, no released modules contain DocBook/XML documentation with cross document references (olink). All 21 modules containing DocBook/XML documentation will update their docbook.am makefile and request version 1.8 of xorg--sgml-doctools. This change is motivated by the distcheck failure when user has no write permission issue found in x11proto. Now is a good time to improve this feature while it is not being used by any released modules. Dear list, I have a problem setting up the resolution of my external monitor connected to the VGA output of my laptop. The graphics controller is: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility X1400 The laptop display has a native resolution of 1680x1050. The external screen as a (maximal) resolution of 1920x1080. I would like to be able to change the resolution to 1920x1080 and to see just a part of this on the laptop display. You also find Xorg.0.log here: http://pastebin.com/m7828c9eb Please note that there is a Modeline for the maximal resolution (1920x1080) of the external monitor (PL2209HD). Hi all, I am having a strange problem and I can't find any help either googling or on the x.org site. I have just bought a new pc: the components are CPU: intel core2duo with 4 Gb of RAM MB: asus p5ql-em VGA: intel g43 (integrated on the MB) Monitor: asus vw198s I installed ubuntu 8.10 (amd64). The first problem is that the correct resolution of the monitor (1680x1050) is not recognized out of the box: after installation, it ran at a lower resolution (1360x768) and I was not able to change it. This surprised me. I couldn't find on the net a valid modeline for my monitor, so I followed the instructions on http://www.x.org/wiki/FAQVideoModes#head-82230a582646cbf28ac41dec2139732ee868e0d2 to obtain a valid modeline using powerstrip. I got the following Modeline 1680x1050 147.600 1680 1784 1968 2256 1050 1051 1054 1087 -hsync +vsync Is this ok? It looks like, since I put it into /etc/X11/xorg.conf and, this way, the resolution is correct. But now it comes another problem: sometime (not everytime) when I logout to change user instead of the usual gdm greeting I get that the monitor has no signal and goes automatically in poweroff: the only thing that I can do is an hard reboot of the pc. I can't understand the origin of this problem. Thanks a lot for your help Fabio ___ xorg mailing list xorg@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg

This forces the server to use the mouse driver (by default on /dev/input/mice) and leave all the hotplugging to the kernel. Does the mouse work then? If not - definitely a kernel problem. Is that the correct key word for my version? It doesn't like it. Here is that section: Section ServerLayout Identifier layout1 InputDevice Keyboard1 CoreKeyboard InputDevice Mouse1 CorePointer Screen screen1 AutoAddDevices false EndSection It told me AutoAddDevices was an invalid key word for that section. Perhaps someone can tell me either why the mouse protocol will not stay the way I set it or, better yet, why the mouse goes away after using the KVM switch. most likely because your xorg.conf settings are ignored, as they usually are with servers 1.5 and above. http://who-t.blogspot.com/2008/12/evdev-xorgconf-hal-and-other-fud.html Since I am below 1.5, hopefully this doesn't apply. I don't know anything about HAL. I'm pretty sure my xorg.conf parameters are not being ignored as I have made changes that effect X. But then maybe it is ignoring some and not all. Is there a Multiple Overlay Extension (MOX) for X11; apparently MOX was presented in X Consortium and published in May 1996 issue of X Journal. It offers multiple overlay or underlay layers (hardware independent) which can be managed by developer. Please let me know, if this extension is available with your X11 server release. -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I looked up your faq about a possibly release of a working SIS 771/671 3D driver, but haven't found an affirmative answer. So I have to ask when it would be possible to use opengl/3D with this chip considering the fact it seems to be available for Windows, and following the post on this blog http://barroslee.blogspot.com/2007/09/release-sis671sis672-linux-3d-driver.html it should also be available for Linux - but nevertheless nobody gets this driver. So would it be possible to run 3D with this chip and a X.org driver in future-releases? And how long would this take according to your expectations? Sincere regards Benjamin Wech P.S.
