MXit support was not added to Pidgin until 2.6.4. In 2.6.3 and earlier it was available only as a separate plugin that could be installed. You would need to talk to the people who package Pidgin for the n900 and ask them to update to 2.6.4, as I doubt you're going to have any luck finding MXit support built as a plugin that is compatible with the n900.
