Hi Adrian, If you want to use Hangouts over XMPP, you'll need to enable "less-secure apps" settings in your Google security settings, otherwise you can switch to the Hangouts plugin at https://bitbucket.org/EionRobb/purple-hangouts which uses OAuth to login.
