Hi there, If you're using ICQ, then you'll need to provide your numeric UIN (123456789) instead of your email address. Just be warned that the old ICQ protocol could stop working at any moment (other 3rd party ICQ clients were shut out at the end of last year), and that a new ICQ plugin is in the works.
Just to double check, were you intentionally trying to connect to an ICQ account and not a Hangouts or XMPP account?
