Hi Mary, What kind of chat room are you connecting to? XMPP, IRC or something else?
If you're connecting to an XMPP room, then you can set the 'handle' to change your nick, eg: [image: image.png] has my handle set to 'eion' and that's how I'd show in that room. You can get to these options either when using the "Buddies->Join a Chat..." menu, or if you save the room to your buddy list, you can right-click and choose "Edit settings..." IRC will use your username that you have set for the account, so you'll need to change your IRC username if it's for that kind of account.
