Hmm. That's really strange. There's been some issues related to the 429 errors that can make it reconnect and download history again, but it normally has the right time on it, not the current time.
To completely avoid the question, I'm working on a new plugin for Google Chat at https://github.com/EionRobb/purple-googlechat Efforts are focused more on getting the new one working rather than fixing the old one, sorry.
