I second that - if the goal is a fully fledged e-commerce app, Magento would be my first choice. On the symfony side you'll find some payment integration packages, but nothing that amounts to a full store. Closest thing I know of is here: http://groups.google.com/group/symfony-ecommerce but I don't think it's quite battle-ready.
