I used JSTL 1.0 as well with TC 5.0.24 because I ran with a Servlet 2.3 web.xml. Just for giggles, I tried it with TC 4.1.30 and it also worked fine. Are you using the latest Standard 1.0 taglib? It's currently at 1.0.5.
