Hi Dave, I would use the exFAT format because by the sounds of it your using it on Win 7 and Ubuntu 10.04. The exFAT format supports Win 7 and with the ppa:relan/exfat ppa in Ubuntu you can read & write to a exFAT format. Just to let you know you need to format the drive in Win 7 for exFAT as the ppa does not support formating yet.
