It builds with pdebuild and I've uploaded it to my PPA, where the build is also OK. Attached is the debdiff for the Lucid package to be backported to Karmic. I've changed the Maintainer to ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com, hope this is correct (could find anything on the backport wiki page about it).
