I followed the exact advise to fix my own problems with my microphone using either skype or MSN.
It fixed the problems momentarily. I left my computer on overnight and have not restarted it. I did close Skype and aMSN and started both upon waking up. Again, I have no microphone functionality through either program. I have tested it without either, just unmuting it and tapping it. There is definite functionality with the microphone itself but their is none through either Skype or aMSN.
