I strongly disagree to make Baidu as default. For a Ubuntu user in
China, Baidu, for the most time, is *useless*. Baidu does know better in
some aspect, but most Linux users won't need in this aspect too much.
Baidu do not know well about technology, especially Linux-related ones,
and do not know English, in which language much more valuable
information may be provided. And more ads and garbages will be returned
by Baidu, as Baidu is too popular to return 'unpopular' useful info
(hope you can understand what I mean). Google is doing well enough.

You can add Baidu, as some newbies will like to use it, but please do
*not* make it as default, because this would take a huge number of
people some time to change their default search engine.
