I really can not believe that this bug does not affect more people. Probably they do not see it if they only use the WiFi card for internet browsing with not very fast connections. However, as soon as you start downloading a big file pretty fast, it is a matter of minutes that is required for the wlan to hang.
In my system I have to go to disable/enable networking so that I get online again. Pretty anoying. To me still hapenning as of today with up to date: Lucid 2.6.32-24-generic-pae-phc Any clues ?
