I run Ubuntu 10.10 and Empathy 2.32.1 and I can confirm that copy/paste from Empathy is broken in some circumstances.
Whenever I try to copy paste a conversation to Gmail (using Firefox 3.6.17) I'm unable to paste. I have to paste first in gedit and then re- copy/paste to FF. On the other hand I tested with Google Chrome and it works fine. In GNOME Terminal (2.32.0) paste does not work if I use the context menu -> paste.
