I have the same bug in my Dell Latitude D820 Laptop, *sometimes* resuming from suspend does not restore the brightness and you can not change it any longer. Reboot is needed.
I have tried manually changing it with: (minimal brightness) <<echo 0 |sudo tee -a /sys/devices/platform/dell-laptop/backlight/dell_backlight/brightness 0>> (maximal brightness) <<echo 7 |sudo tee -a /sys/devices/platform/dell-laptop/backlight/dell_backlight/brightness 7>> And here it is reported to change, but nothing happens in the backlight actually. << cat /sys/devices/platform/dell-laptop/backlight/dell_backlight/actual_brightness>> 7 uname -a: Linux dell 2.6.35-25-generic #44~lucid1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 25 19:19:31 UTC 2011 i686 GNU/Linux 10.04 up-to-date What can I try, what can I do to fix it (or help fixing it)?
