Public bug reported: Upon logging in, there was no sound indicator visible. I determined that as long as the output volume is muted, the indicator is hidden. Toggling mute hides/shows the indicator.
What I expected to see: always show the indicator, regardless of mute. This is because I have no hardware keys to control volume, so if I mute it (and the indicator hides) I must now go digging through the system menus to find and unmute the output. Observed behavior: muting the output hides the indicator. Note: this system was recently upgraded from 10.10 -> 11.04 -> 11.10.
