Public bug reported:

When I click right on the trash can at the bottom of the launcher bar
and select "Empty Trash" a confirmation dialog appears that asks "Empty
all items from Trash?".

However, if I have an application window maximized I do not see this
confirmation dialog. I also do not see anything in the launcher to
indicate that a confirmation dialog has been opened. The only way to see
the confirmation dialog is to minimize all windows one at a time.

The net result is that it looks like nothing happens after selecting
Empty Trash. So one does it again and again. Then these confirmation
dialogs stack up and can stay there for the entire working session.
Then later, after deleting some files that I wanted to keep in the
trash, I found these confirmation dialogs and dismissed them...and then
the trash was emptied including the files I did want to go away.

This is consistently reproduceable with Unity-2D. I do not think it is a
problem in Unity-3D.

** Affects: unity-2d (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
