Public bug reported: 1) Precise 2) 3.4.8ubuntu2 3) updatebase should run apt-get update with proper flags 4) updatebase runs apt-get as follows:
export aptopt='-y -o Dpkg::Options::="--force-confdef" -o Dpkg::Options::="--force-confold"' $ROOTCMD apt-get $aptopt update Which result in invalid Dpkg::Options as they are double quoted, removing the quotes solves the problem. As a result of this apt-get update only downloads the system architecture packages, instead of both the system and the foreign architectures.
