I believe I may have this bug as well, but not sure. At least the workaround
(sudo lpadmin -p <printer queue> -o usb-unidir-default=true) seems to work beautifully. I had created a separate bug for this (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1202631), and have included lots of logs, etc. there. Please let me know if I can provide more info.
