I'm happy to know that this is not a problem with *Ubuntu (I found Xubuntu is affected too), nevertheless I found that the problem can be solved by simply editing xorg.conf as follows:
1. At the end of the section "ServerLayout" add the line InputDevice "XWorkAround" 2. At the end of the file (maybe other places are OK) add the following Section "InputDevice" Identifier "XWorkAround" Driver "void" EndSection 3. Restart X and that's all I hope that the above changes could be adopted in the default xorg.conf so that running *Ubuntu as a virtual machine would be more straightforward.
