Sorry, no I don't recall. I do however have a second machine running xenial rather than yakkety that I'm yet to test. So that might help...
Unfortunately I've also changed machines between it last working and now. So this might be a USB hardware fault but I struggle to see how that would prevent something as slow as 1000 mouse events per second from working.
