This is a compiled version of the latest sources of today, Thunar 1.6.11 from 
13 Feb 2017. Default options.
1) Remove your old version.
2) Install this one.
3) Restart the system.
4) Try to make it crash and see if it works for you as well.

It haven't crashed for me, seems to work.
I don't know if the patched version in future will replace this one, or if you 
have to change back manually if you want it.


This kind of bug is critical to many users of XFCE. We are stuck with the last 
"stable" Xubuntu LTS 14.04 while it is running close to EOL.

TO MAINTAINERS OF XUBUNTU
I don't know how hard it is to solve such a problem. But the desktop on a LTS 
must work after almost a year in the wild.

In the future, Please consider to offer an older but working version as
an alternative if the bleeding edge is to bleeding.
