I expect VirtualBox to start my VMs and render them in the natural
resolution of my screen.
VirtualBox starts correctly, starts the VM, but renders it in roughly a
quarter of the screen resolution, only. When deinstalling the guest
additions within the guest (Win8.1) the screen is rendered in low
resolution as a full screen. After unsuccessful installation of guest
additions (s.b.) the screen is rendered in the top left quarter of the
screen, but the mouse input is taken from the entire screen (see
attached screen shot, screen is rendered in top left quarter, mouse
input is taken from bottom left corner where the mouse pointer shows
up).
Deinstallation of guest additions within guest failed once but succeeded
after. Installing guest additions 5.1.26 (either installed from ubuntu
repositories or downloaded from the VirtualBox interface) fails with
some return codes 2 (too quick to actually read the errors).
The solution from
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=75315
does not work, doesn't change anything.
