Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better and for providing the correct logs to further troubleshoot the issue. Things went south after `ldd /sbin/fsck.ext4` leading to `/lib/libgcwrap.so`.
Can you provide the output of the `ldd /sbin/fsck.ext4` command? On a clean focal chroot the output of the command looks like this: ``` $ ldd /sbin/fsck.ext4 linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffd483c4000) libext2fs.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libext2fs.so.2 (0x0000776e7776c000) libcom_err.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcom_err.so.2 (0x0000776e77765000) libblkid.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libblkid.so.1 (0x0000776e7770e000) libuuid.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuuid.so.1 (0x0000776e77705000) libe2p.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libe2p.so.2 (0x0000776e776fa000) libc.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x0000776e77508000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x0000776e774e3000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x0000776e77828000) ``` ** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2057605 Title: update-initramfs fails: /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/fsck failed with return 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/2057605/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
