I'm not sure which this should be attached to:

  - xserver-xorg-video-nv
  - nvidia-graphics-drivers
  - linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24

Some of the shorter details from the original question (33142):

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a
Linux jeff-laptop 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 12:47:45 UTC 2008 x86_64
GNU/Linux

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lspci | grep VGA
00:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51 [Geforce 6150 Go]
(rev a2)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -l | grep nvidia
ii nvidia-glx-new 169.12+2.6.24.12-16.34 NVIDIA binary XFree86 4.x/X.Org 'new'
driver
ii nvidia-kernel-common 20051028+1ubuntu8 NVIDIA binary kernel module common
files

Jeff also mentioned:
Killing X and logining back into GDM is the only way I have gotten back in. The
screen stays black, flashing in the corners, small lines are all over until X
is killed. ( they look like fabric )

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu)
