Public bug reported:

Please sync socat 1.7.2.2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Merge from Debian, remaining changes:
    - d/patches/socat-opensslcompress*.patch: Add OpenSSL compression
      patches from upstream. (LP: #745603) These are included in 2.0 so
      these patches can be dropped when it is synced from Debian.
    - d/patches/fix-segfault-xio-gopen.patch: Applying patch to prevent
      segfaults. (LP: #481776) This is also included in socat 2.0.

Patches are included upstream.

Changelog entries since current trusty version 1.7.1.3-1.5ubuntu1:

socat (1.7.2.2-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release, fixing CVE-2013-3571 .
  * New maintainer (closes: #717434), fix packaging problems.
  * Update to Standards-Version 3.9.4 , no changes needed.
  * Merge in manpage fixes (closes: #702136).
