Well as you set before a lot has change, I don't use ubuntu 8.10 anymore now I use 10.10 and and so far everiting is perfect, at least for me. Thanks so much though

A lot has changed since this was reported and without the /etc/clamav/clamd.conf.ucf-new to see what the conflict was I think it would be hard to fix anything... Ubuntu 8.10 is EOL and clamav is up to 0.96.5 (soon 0.97.2) in every current release.
