You have been subscribed to a public bug: I'm extending my laptop monitor with a native resolution of 1366×768 with an external display with a native resolution of 1280×1024. This situation is poorly handled.
Here's a representation of my setup, which I mirrored in the Monitor configuration: ╔════════╤════════╗ ║░░░░1░░░│▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒║ ║░░░░░░░░│▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒║ ╟────────┘▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒║ ║▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒║ ║▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒║ ║▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒║ ║▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓┌───────╢ ║▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓│░░░░2░░║ ╚═════════╧═══════╝ ▓ laptop monitor ▒ external monitor ░ area that is not covered by any monitor ═ shape of the virtual desktop ─ shape of the area that is actually covered by monitors I am experiencing a number of problems: - No desktop is running in the ▒ area. The "wallpaper" is black and right clicks are a no-op. - Widgets can be moved from the ▓ area to the ▒ area. However, they are invisible on the destination monitor. - Widgets can be moved from the ▓ area to the ░1 area. Doing so makes the widget immediately disappear the moment the dragging point leaves the desktop. - Clicking on the ░1 area makes it "copy" to the ▓ monitor. From there, widgets dragged at the previous "step" can be dragged back into view. Clicking outside this "copied" area restores the monitor to normality. This is not replicable on the ░2 area.
