Was able to complete the upgrade in one leap, with only a couple of 'deprecation' errors to fix afterwards. Would suggest you try on a dev/staging copy first if at all possible. However the process is basically to unzip the new code into /opt, stop solr, move the /opt/solr symlink to point to the new code and then start solr again. Easy enough to reverse if there are any problems. (Assuming Linux here, sorry). The fixes for any deprecation errors are easily googleable.
