Double Trouble with Goober was a short-lived comic book from the early 1950s.
It was about a little boy who got into mischief, and it was obviously inspired
by Dennis the Menace.  The Goober in this comic book wore a beanie just like
the one Goober Pyle would wear about ten years later; this could hardly be a
coincidence.

A number of years ago I gave one of these comic books to George Lindsey, and he
said he'd never heard of it.  I'll bet that one of the producers had though.
George said the way he understood it was, the idea for him to wear such a cap
came from real filling station mechanics who worked under cars on lifts, and
that the upturned brim all the way around the cap was to keep oil that dripped
on the mechanics head from running down onto his face and neck.
