Lowell, Yes, it matters a great deal. The class java.net.HttpURLConnection does not give you return codes, it just throws an exception. You need to use something like apache commons HttpClient.
Btw, if you can not massage Wicket into doing what you want, you can always add a self-written servlet (or a servlet from any other web-framework) in the same web-application. Regards, Erik.
