Sure, UR have put out housier tracks, the whole X2X series is wicked, but there
has always been a certain electro funk undefinable techno vibe to even there
more jazzy cuts, whereas Hardlife, for me, is out and out house and very
different from anything else Mike has put out on UR. Dont get me wrong, I dig
it as a quality house cut and know that Mike puts out a variety of styles
through various projects (Hipnotech), but I was just kinda surprised to hear a
track that sounded so housey and pretty far removed from what I've always
expected from UR. It'll be interesting to see what they put out next.
