That show was very welcome! My crusty old Eagles-loving boss even liked it

haha, thats great... i'm a bit embarrassed to admit i've always had a soft spot for the funky rolling bassline in "one of these nights" { ducks to avoid thrown bottles }. Hey it was sampled by Ultramarine so they can't be THAT bad...

i was getting calls all night from rockers asking me if i was gonna play all these covers of Kraftwerk songs i never knew existed, guess they're sufficiently "meta" to cross over everywhere ;) Sort of terminally hip, if you will. The one thing i COULDN'T find in time was my Senior Coconut CD, which I think is brilliantly done and I would have liked to play.

BTW Matt, who's the fella in the pic on the Sonic Sunset page?

depends on which one you mean... there's about 50 images in a random rotation... if it was a tall shot of a guy DJing in front of a hanging black Seventh City banner, it was Claude Young spinning at that festival afterparty, at Agave a couple years ago.

peace

Clinically Inclined
3 June 2005
Fridays 9:30pm - 12:30am, 89.3 FM WNUR Chicago
http://SonicSunset.com

Broadcast on the eve of the Kraftwerk tour stop in Chicago, Matt hosts
a full career retrospective of their work. Agruably the most
forward-thinking and influential pioneers in synthesized electro-pop
music, the four composers working from Dusseldorf, Germany have had
their music famously described as "so stiff it's funky." Kraftwerk
created sonic blueprints and themes that paved the way for early
Hip-Hop, House and Techno to follow in their robotic footsteps. After
an intro of Detroit-y downtempo, hear Kraftwerk's decades of influence
still every bit as relevant to modern electronic music today, fusing
mechanized beats with emotional melodies and beautifully simple pop
arrangements.
