Respected Anirudh Sir. I hope that this message finds you well. My name is Ajay and I have done a batchelars degree in Indian classical music and I play more than 20 music instruments. I will try my level best to answer your doubts on as to how you can right the notation of any rag and even can learn any tal by sitting at home from your teacher. I hope that my experience will be of some help to you. So basically sir, any notation in classical music is simple to write and understand even as a visually impaired musician. When I started learning my teacher deviced this unique way to teach me and it continues to help me till date with understanding and writing the notation of any rag or song. The notation of any kind weather it is a classical rag or a song is written in the form of a table. Just the way we make a table in microsoft word with a specific number of rows and columns, the same way while writing the notation of the Bandish you have to 1st understand that in what tal are you singing the Bandish. To make this more clearer, for example if you are singing a bandish of rag yaman in tin tal. Then we know that tin tal has 16 beats and it is divided into 4 divisions of 4 beats each. So ultimately while writing the notation you have to make a table with 4 rows and 4 coloums. Now in each coloum you have to carefully write the notation of the bandish with the lirix and then the sargam of the lirix. Basically the crucks of this entire argument is that writing and understanding the notation system is a very simple process. It is nothing but a tabular representation of the entire structure of the song that you are singing. It can be very difficult at the same time to communicate this to a scribe, because the scribe doesn't come from a musical background. The same formula applies to learning and understanding a tal as well. So while you are learning from your teacher online, you can simply request them to 1st give you a discription of the entire tal. You can ask them to tell you that the tal has how many beats/matras? On what beat does it have the tali? and what is the Khali of the tal and it has how many divisions ETC. Then you can practice that tal on your hands and by clap. This will make the entire process smooth and you will be able to learn everything easily sir. I hope that this information helps. If you have any confusion, then you can reach out to me on call sir. With best regards Ajayt
