Private Browsing

I got a request for this tip from a reader who's just starting their
holiday shopping. We like to do a lot of our shopping on the Internet,
but did you ever suspect someone going into your browsing history to
sneak a peek at the sites you've gone to? What a way to ruin a
surprise, right?

Here's what you can do to thwart these sneaky spies of holiday gift giving.

In Internet Explorer 8:

It's called InPrivate Browsing and what it does is keep all of your
history in one private session that is deleted directly after you're
done. Just press Ctrl+Shift+P and then shop, browse and scheme all you
want! When you're done, your tracks are covered!

In Firefox 3.5:

The same key combination (Ctrl+Shift+P) works exactly the same in
Firefox 3.5, too! The added cool part about Firefox's private method
is that when you're done all the tabs you had open when you went
private are restored!

There you go! Two similar methods for Internet anonymity for two
different browsers! Cloak and Dagger lives on via the Internet!

Coolest Alarm Clock Ever!!

Wake Up To Your Favorite Photos!!

AWESOME 1.5" Digital Photo Display!!

Great For:

Traveling

Desktops

Night Stands

End Tables

Gifts

Even Displays the Date & Temperature!!!

This little Digital Photo Viewer Alarm Clock is absolutely amazing! I
am already thinking about how great this is going to be to give as a
gift for the holidays! It's portable, compact, looks great and is just
one of the coolest gadgets I have come across in a long time!

This Digital Photo Viewer Alarm Clock is perfect for the desktop,
countertop, end-table or night stand! The photo display has rich,
vibrant colors and can store up to 60 of your favorite photos! You can
set the display to automatically change your pictures at various
intervals (mine is set to 30 seconds) or you can set the display to
one particular photo and change it manually whenever you like.

Under the photo screen is an LCD display with the time and
temperature! You also have an alarm and backlight feature on the clock
as well which makes this a perfect item for travel! Not only do you
have your own alarm with you (I prefer having my own when I travel,
wake-up calls or hotel alarms aren't always reliable in my experience)
but you also have all your favorite photos with you as well!

Setup is really easy, the Digital Photo Viewer Alarm Clock comes with
a USB cable and easy to use software, so you'll be easily loading and
displaying your favorite photos within minutes! Once your photos are
loaded, simply set the display type (auto change pictures or manual)
and your all set!

Mine is on my desktop here at work and I gotta tell ya, it brings a
smile to my face every time I glance over and see one of my family
photos! I have never been a huge fan of digital frames before, I
didn't see the need ~ but, this one is so compact and handy with the
clock and temperature display that I can't get over how excited I am
about it!

I guarantee, this will bring a smile to your face too and it will make
an AWESOME gift! My sister just had her 40th birthday and I was
looking for something really clever ~ this would have been perfect! I
could have loaded all kinds of goofy photos from when we were kids
(including all of our goofy moments since) ~ I guess she'll be getting
this for Christmas instead ;-) Along with my grandparents, mom, dad,
etc...

You have to check this out for yourself (I don't think our picture
here does it justice). The best part is that your cost is just $15.97
and that includes FREE shipping in the US! Have you priced digital
photos frames?? Most go for $75.00+!! I was in WalMart yesterday and
saw something similar for $69.99...and I thought Walmart was supposed
to be cheap!!

FINALLY!!!

Transfer VHS, DVDs, And Home Videos To Your Computer!

Even Better -

Transfer Old VHS Tapes To DVD (Or Even Video CD)!

[image: Airlink 101 USB 2.0 Video Capture Box w/Audio]

At Last - Get Those Old Camcorder Movies To DVD!

Amazing Little Transfer Device Is A MUST-HAVE!

OK, let me guess - you have a bunch of old VHS tapes sitting around
and wish there was some way to put 'em on DVD. Maybe you have a bunch
of home movies you shot with a camcorder and wish you could get 'em on
DVD, but just don't know how. Well, we just discovered an amazing
little device that's going to make all those wishes come true! Wait
till you see this!

It's the incredible EasyCap Video Capture Box and it takes your videos
and transfers 'em to your computer (then onto DVD or Video CD)! How's
that for cool?

How's it work? Pretty simple really. You just plug your VCR / DVD
Player / Video Camera into the standard Audio / Video inputs on this
device (or, for even better quality - plug into the "S" Video plug).
Pretty easy so far huh? Now, just plug the EasyCap into your USB port
and run the software!

To transfer, just hit PLAY on your VCR (or DVD player, or camcorder,
or whatever) and RECORD on the included software! That's really it!
This can record ANYTHING that you can plug into it! Old VHS movies,
your favorite home videos, even copy DVDs to your computer so you can
watch them on an iPod or portable video player! Pretty sweet huh?

[image: Airlink 101 USB 2.0 Video Capture Box w/Audio]

If you have a closet full of old VHS tapes, why let them deteriorate
to the point of no longer being playable? Hey, VHS doesn't have that
long of a shelf life - 15 years is probably optimistic. If you have a
stack of VHS tapes that you want to keep, you absolutely HAVE to get
them transferred to something more reliable - and this makes it easy!

Besides, when was the last time you saw a new VHS player at a store?
Doesn't happen very often now - they are an endangered species, and
they aren't far from permanent extinction! The day is coming where
even if you WANT to buy a VHS player to look at those old tapes it
simply isn't going to be an option! Better transfer 'em while you can!

Oh, and do you have a camcorder that uses an odd-sized tape - you
know, so you have to hook the camcorder up to the TV to see your
videos? Well, why not hook that little camcorder up to this and
finally get all those tapes transferred over to digital? From there,
you can enjoy them on your computer or create your own DVD / Video CD
to watch in a standard DVD player! (That's right - you don't even need
a DVD burner on your computer - you can make a Video CD that will play
in any standard DVD player!)

Plus, everything is really easy to work with - so you'll be able to
get things transferred over in no time! Really, just plug in a couple
cords, follow the software prompts, and you're good to go! Why let
your tapes fade into an analog ether? This can save 'em before it's
too late!

Your cost? Get this - Just $29.97 and US Shipping is FREE! For that
kind of money, it's crazy not to grab this and start transferring all
those old VHS tapes and camcorder movies to your computer or DVD!
Heck, this can even record from a DVD player if you need an extra copy
of something! Check it out, but hurry - this is something we've had a
LOT of requests for and now that it's finally here, it's bound to fly!

http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=5249

PS - Don't miss out - this little gadget makes transferring your old
VHS / Camcorder tapes to DVD incredibly easy - get yours today!

Q:
I'm a big fan of Google Chrome but I think it's just too far behind
Firefox in terms of add-ons. Is there any way to get Firefox-style
add-ons in Chrome?

A:
Absolutely! There are plenty of ways to get that extra functionality
out of Chrome. Although I just love the customisation that you can get
from Firefox, Google Chrome's slick interface is what got me to
change, and I'm sure a lot of you agree with me. So, how can you
combine the futuristic Chrome appearance with the functionality of
Firefox?

Chrome Add-ons

If you're not looking for a particular Firefox add-on that you'd like
to see ported to Chrome, take a look at some of the Chrome-specific
add-ons that some fans have created. Web sites like Chrome Fans and My
Chrome Add-ons have quite large selections of plug-ins for you to try.
For example, if you liked using various add-ons from Firefox which
opened mailto: links, or links which open the user's email client
(such as Microsoft Outlook), in Gmail instead of the default client,
you'll also like the Chrome edition: ChromeMailer. However, unlike
Firefox, Chrome add-ons have to be installed like you would a
program... in Firefox, you just have to click a link and it's all done
for you!

Chromifox

If there's one Firefox add-on that you really, really want, don't
despair - you can install that great add-on without having to desert
Chrome's flashy interface... simply use Chromifox! Chromifox is a
Mozilla Firefox add-on which causes Firefox to undergo a complete
makeover, meaning that you can install as many Firefox add-ons as you
want! Although you're technically not using Chrome at all, you still
have the slick feel of Google's browser along with the functionality
of Firefox. Here's how you install it:

1.Click here to head over to the Mozilla Firefox add-ons Web site.

2.Click Download Now.

3.Click Install Now.

4.You'll be prompted to restart Firefox and you're done!

So, if you're a fan of both Chrome's slick interface and Firefox's
functionality, there's no need to settle for just one or the other.
Why not have the best of both worlds?

A Different Type of Section Break

Have you ever created a section break in MS Word and then afterword
realized that you chose the wrong type?

Maybe you chose a continuous section break but now you're thinking
that it should have been a New / Next Page.

What did you do?

Many people I know would work to remove the current break and then go
through the process of putting in the new one.

I have a different suggestion - let's just change it from one type to another.

Didn't know you could do that?

Probably because the place to make the change isn't where we would
probably think to look for it in the Page Setup dialog box.

So let's get started.

First, you'll need to place your cursor just below the section break
that needs to be changed.

If you need to see the break then click the button to show hidden
paragraph marks.

Section breaks will show up as horizontal lines and will be labeled as such.

With the cursor in the right location, go to the Page Setup dialog box.

In older versions of Word use the File menu, Page Setup choice.

For Word 2007 you need to click the dialog launcher in the bottom
right corner of the Page Setup section of the Page Layout tab.

Once in the Page Setup dialog box go to the Layout tab.

The top section is for section settings. Use the "Section start"
drop-down list to choose the correct section break type.

Click OK.

Poof! The section break type has been changed and you can get on with
everything else.

WOW!

Get Data Off Old Hard Drives The Easy Way!

Backups Made Cheap, Quick, And EASY!

Use Internal Hard Drives OUTSIDE The Computer!

Ingenious Device Pays For Itself - FAST!

OK, THIS is really sweet! When I first discovered these, all I could
think was, "WOW! EVERYONE needs something like this - what an
INCREDIBLE idea!"

What the heck is it? Glad you asked!

We have this amazing little USB Cable Adapter and it has gotta be one
of the most brilliant ideas I've ever come across!

What's it do? Basically, this amazing device lets you use an internal
hard drive as an external hard drive!

Here's how it works:

You take an internal hard drive - IDE or SATA (that's pretty much
everything from the last 10+ years) and plug it into this device. Then
plug the USB cable into your computer - that's it! The hard drive you
hooked up will show up as a removable drive under My Computer! How
cool is that?

Just think of the uses for this! Let's say you have an old computer
laying around and you REALLY want to get the info off the old hard
drive and onto your new computer. With this, just pop out the old hard
drive, hook it to this little gadget, and plug the USB cable into your
new computer. You just got your data back!

Oh, and if you're like me and have been computing for awhile, you
probably have an old hard drive or two lying around. If so, just hook
it up to this and have instant USB access to your files! Now THAT'S
smart!

My favorite use for this? Using it as a cheap backup device!

OK, think about this - how much does an external hard drive cost?
They're freakin' expensive! In a LOT of cases they can easily run over
$100 - even $200 isn't unusual! Sad part is, if you're like most
people, you're just using them as a backup device or extra storage.
Know why you're paying so much? That pretty case!

Why not just use an internal hard drive with one of these adapters?

Think about it - hook up any internal IDE or SATA drive to this device
and you instantly have a place for backups or extra storage! When
you're done, just stick the drive in your desk drawer! Hey, that's my
backup plan most of the time! Internal drives are easier to store,
cheaper to buy (think WAY cheaper) and just as reliable! Heck, I'll
bet you have an old computer lying around right now with a drive you
could scavenge and use for backups!

All you need is this Hard Drive Adapter and you're good to go!

Your cost? Just $19.97 and US Shipping is FREE! It's an incredible
deal - especially when you figure in all the money it's going to save
you on those fancy external drives! Pays for itself almost instantly!
Check it out:

http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=3564

PS - Stop getting ripped off for hard drive storage! Grab one of these
and use ANY IDE or SATA drive for extra space, backup, and storage!

Hard Drive Maintenance

Hard drives are one of the most important components of the computer
system. A general unmonitored hard drive has a life term of about
three to five years. A hard drive may fail without any prior warning,
leading to the loss of all the data on the disk. And that's exactly
why it's so important to keep your hard drive in good condition. This
tutorial will guide you through all the steps you can use to improve
the health of your hard drive. Here we go!

Step 1: Check the Drive for Errors

1.) Go to Start, My Computer.

2.) Right click on the C: drive and choose Properties.

3.) Under the Tools tab, click on the Check Now button.

4.) Check both the disk options and then click on the Start menu.

5.) If a prompt for a restart appears, choose Yes.

6.) Windows will then restart, check and repair any corrupted files on
your drive.

Step 2: Convert the File System of Your Drive to NTFS without Losing Any Data

Windows uses either the NTFS or FAT 32 file system to maintain the
records of all your files. The main advantage of NTFS is if your
system crashes, the NTFS file system is capable of automatically
fixing any problems that may arise. It's also capable of detecting and
isolating bad sectors on your hard drive automatically. Those same
features are not provided with the older FAT 32 system. To make sure
your computer is using NTFS, follow these steps:

1.) Go to Start, Run.

2.) Type in "cmd" and then press Enter.

3.) When the prompt window opens, type "convert j: /fs:ntfs," assuming
you're converting drive J. (If step 1 is not performed, the conversion
may fail, so please follow all the steps sequentially).

Step 3: Defragment the Drive

As files are copied to and deleted from the hard drive, a process
called fragmentation starts to affect performance and stability. Large
files are scattered all over the drive and the drive has to work
harder to locate all the different fragments. Therefore, the hard
components have to cover the entire drive very quickly, just to access
a single file. As a result, the hard drive s life is shortened.

To overcome that problem, a utility called the disk defragmenter is
provided with Windows. Here's how to use the disk defragmenter
utility:

1.) Go to Start, My Computer.

2.) Right click on the C: drive and select Properties.

3.) Under the Tools tab, click on Defragment Now.

4.) Now, analyze the drive and then hit Defragment.

5.) You should do it at least once a month to keep your hard drive in
its proper working condition.

Good luck!

Immortalize that rainbow!

You are driving in your car and the entire world around you appears
wet through your rain-spattered window. Then, you see the sky stained
with colors. You roll down your window to find a rainbow.

Grab that camera and make it yours!

If you are lucky, you might have a rainbow right above you on a day
such as this!

You never know exactly when a rainbow might materialize; and even if
it does, you don't know if it will be on your side of the horizon
because only then will you be able to view it. It isn't really that
unpredictable, though. When you have bright sunshine interacting with
a delicate shower of rain, you can be pretty sure of spotting one a
rainbow.

Don't forget to mount your camera in its place!

You can't possibly think of ways to mount or stand your camera in
order to take a picture of the rainbow's arch every single time,
though, can you? In landscape photography, we make use of tripods most
of the time and the same applies here. Since the conditions around us
are gradual, but continuously changing, make mounting adjustments in
such a way that you capture the rainbow image perfectly.

Pick out those perfect backdrop hues.

Rainbows have seven colours, so when you try to capture them in your
photograph you should make sure that they stand out distinctly against
the backdrop. You cannot, obviously, choose your backdrop because
obviously whatever is around you is what is going to be seen in the
image. Instead, pick out the appropriate angle at which to click your
picture to get a brilliant photograph of the rainbow, even if it's
only a part of it. Just go for the perfect assembly of depth, extent,
and colors. Since the rainbow has only light shades, a dark, cloudy
background with mountains or hillocks will give you an excellent
photograph.

Make your shot a wholesome one.

Make the photograph complete by shooting it from the appropriate
position. Capture that perfect section of the rainbow where the
surroundings are also captured in a way that makes your picture
outstanding. Your check-list before you click the perfect photo should
be this.

* Choose the right spot: Place yourself at the right spot from where
you get a total view of the rainbow along with the surroundings.

* Can you capture the entire rainbow? - Did you know that a rainbow,
any rainbow is in fact a completely circular formation? We can only
see an arch because that is the only part visible in our horizon! It
is indeed a fabulous trick of nature! So shooting the end-points of
the rainbow is rather interesting. Show where it begins. That is,
putting that point into your frame -where the rainbow kisses the
earth.

Your camera has brilliant options to zoom in and out using lenses of
several powers. They give you pictures of excellent resolution, depth
and clarity. If you want to photograph the entire arch within one
frame, use powerful lenses. It shouldn't end up giving you a blurred
image in spite of a high magnitude of capture.

Before you click that picture, look around yourself too!

Keep a clear ground around yourself before you get down to clicking
that button. Avoid objects that might distract or divert your
attention.

Bring out those contrasts and separate those colors!

Appendages like filters can be attached to the camera lens. It is an
excellent aid which makes each color look distinct. This will result
in a picture that will have vividly contrasting colour and saturation
gradations. You will obtain a high quality, and supremely effective
photograph of the rainbow itself.

Slit adjustments and the totality of the image.

Increasing or decreasing the lens aperture will alter the depth of the
picture but it doesn't influence the resulting image quality of the
main object you are trying to photograph.

Ever seen that secondary rainbow?

When you can see that bright, spectacular rainbow with distinct bands,
you can look right above it and try to make a fainter, more blurred
rainbow, with overlapping bands. If you can snap this off into your
image, there is nothing quite like it!
