Well, we could reframe the concept of compression and redefine it in terms of 
consciousness and intelligence.

Assume panpsychism, all compressors have non-zero consciousness. And all 
compressed data is meant for transmission. Storage is transmission, 
spatiotemporally, to others and oneself. Then “compression” could be reworded 
as - perceptual information malleation for transfer with qualia utility 
minimization. Or something like that. IOW decompressors minimize conscious data 
perception via information re-representation/re-dimensionalization for 
transmission efficiency by utilizing intelligent exertion. Thus “compression” 
then is gone… and all of its associated stigma.
