both ropes have to burn in one hour.. so if burn first rope at both ends it wil definitely take 30 mins to burn completely no matter how non uniform burning is.. when first rope burn out completly(after 30 mins) second rope still have 30 mins left for complete burning so if it is burn at both ends it wil take half the time left i.e 15 mins .. so in total we get 45 mins
