A Table with column entries marked for indexing becomes corrupted when saved 
for 
Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc). Removing the indexing marks stops the 
corruption.

One large (27 page) document is affected. A sample table is available from the 
given URL.  Save it as .doc, then open the resulting file.
