Hi all, I have a SoundBlaster Live! (value, I guess), kernel 2.4.23 and alsa-1.0.0rc1 (I should upgrade, I know). I have recently acquired a Roland MT-32 sound module and I'm trying to connect the soundcard to it.
Connecting an electric piano to the MT-32, I can get the midi messages in the soundcard (by using dd if=/dev/snd/midiC0D0 bs=1, I see output when I press the piano keys). However, connecting the soundcard's output to the MT-32's input, I get nothing (no sound, no midi message in the MT-32). Could anyone help me? --------------------------------- pmidi -l Port Client name Port name 64:0 Rawmidi 0 - EMU10K1 MPU-401 (U EMU10K1 MPU-401 (UART) 65:0 Emu10k1 WaveTable Emu10k1 Port 0 65:1 Emu10k1 WaveTable Emu10k1 Port 1 65:2 Emu10k1 WaveTable Emu10k1 Port 2 65:3 Emu10k1 WaveTable Emu10k1 Port 3 --------------------------------- /sbin/lsmod | grep snd snd-mpu401-uart 4624 0 (unused) snd-seq-midi 4416 0 (autoclean) snd-seq-oss 28064 0 (autoclean) snd-emu10k1-synth 4928 0 snd-emux-synth 30588 0 [snd-emu10k1-synth] snd-seq-midi-emul 6592 0 [snd-emux-synth] snd-seq-virmidi 4404 0 [snd-emux-synth] snd-seq-midi-event 5832 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq-virmidi] snd-seq 44044 2 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-emux-synth snd-seq-midi-emul snd-seq-virmidi snd-seq-midi-event] snd-emu10k1 73540 0 [snd-emu10k1-synth] snd-pcm 78912 0 [snd-emu10k1] snd-timer 18048 0 [snd-seq snd-pcm] snd-rawmidi 16928 0 [snd-mpu401-uart snd-seq-midi snd-seq-virmidi snd-emu10k1] snd-util-mem 3000 0 [snd-emux-synth snd-emu10k1] snd-seq-device 5624 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-emu10k1-synth snd-emux-synth snd-seq snd-emu10k1 snd-rawmidi] snd-ac97-codec 51288 0 [snd-emu10k1] snd-hwdep 5728 0 [snd-emu10k1] snd 42624 0 [snd-mpu401-uart snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-emux-synth snd-seq-virmidi snd-seq-midi-event snd-seq snd-emu10k1 snd-pcm snd-timer snd-rawmidi snd-util-mem snd-seq-device snd-ac97-codec snd-hwdep] snd-page-alloc 8932 0 [snd-emu10k1 snd-pcm] --------------------------------- The "snd-mpu401-uart" wasn't originally there, but I compiled it and modprobed it wishing it would help... Maybe the cable is defective, but I just bought it today, and don't know how to test it. Thanks in advance Jellby ____________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
