Joe, No. There is a server-wide setting that tells the server to ignore all overlays and only use the base objects. However, as mentioned, it therefore affects every user and every operation – so it cannot be used to do what the original requestor was asking for.
The option was put in place for two primary use cases: 1. A developer wants to see how all the base objects / functionality work together without any customizations / extensions (i.e. without any overlays). 2. A developer has added customizations and extensions that have caused the entire system to become unstable. The developer can choose to turn off all overlays and use the system OOTB - without having to restore a DB backup - until the overlay issues can be addressed. -David J.
