Title: RE: [AsburyPark] Re: Sale of "The Triangle"

Or, just maybe, it's done on purpose.

Of course it's not a valid excuse ... for a couple of
reasosn. First off, since a "tax point" in Asbury Park is
approx $40,000, a loss of $40K would only mean a 10 cent
increase in the tax rate. But more then that... if a delay
in the sale that has the effect of raising the price of
the parcel to, for example, $800K would mean a tax
DECREASE of 10 cents.

The facts and figures of the sale of the casino were set
as part of the redev plan.  So the ordinance could have
been pulled so that a new ordinance with just the casino
property included reintroduced and voted on before the end
of the year.

They have a habit of doing this. They did the same thing
last year for the sale of Convention Hall and Parmount...
there was a special meeting on December 28th or 29th so
that the transaction could take place before the end of
the year.

It's just not right that major decisions are made under
this "we have to pass this tonight or else attitude."
