Jim,
I see your point of view, but can i ask your take on the current
situation with Spc. Charles Graner Jr and his current conviction
stemming from the 'abusegate'. I dont want to stir the pot (yeah
right) on terrorists noit being normal POW's. My concern is more
directly linked to someone doing as they are told and then being left
hung out to dry. This man faces 10-15 years for, what he claims,
doing as he was told. I do not think that it is too far fetched to
think that these orders may have come from above. a couple of the
reasons for this is Gonzales' (ashcroft's successor) authored the
justice departments new view on prisoner treatment in the current
terror crisis we face. The justice department recently did a 180 on
this, but that was not until there was public outcry. I think it does
leave a somewhat reasonable doubt that he was rouge element.

I know that court martial guidelines do not fall in line what us
civilians know as our rights in court, so i dont know how much
reasonable doubt comes into play.

Do you feel that his sentence, is reasonable? or rather, is it
understood that these things may happen in the military? When is it
acceptable to break the chain of command? I undersdtand the need, but
when it comes down to it, it is only by the grace of god that you or
i are not in graner's cell.

respectfully yours,
  tony

America should not be acting like the Roman Empire. At times, during

appear///////////////////////////////// Their nothing wrong with a
Solider speaking out.If he feels something isn't right its his
duty.Their is a time & place & chain of command. After serving you can
speak out if you wish while you are in you have to go by the orders
you are given. If you feel they are wrong take it up your Chain of
Coomand.Just like you do with your empolyment or you find
newemployment. If you don't like your orders while in the Military
their is a Chain of Command. We have a country that everyone whats to
come in because our Freedom.Freedom isn't free never was.For some
one to cometo me & ask for a soliders address that served in Iraq
just so he can write him & then I see him speaking out againest the
Iraq War ON A CHAT ROOM.Later on it piss's me off.Makes me wonder
what was his real reason for getting hisaddress.I went to a homeless
Veterans Meeting several months back & a Veitnam Veteran told us how
everyone was hitting them with negative remarks when they came back
home.We didn't even have the computors like we have know.I spent
yesterday afternoon at East Orange Veterans Hospital you should hear
some stories.Yesterday I also lost a very closefriend that served in
WWII.Peace doesn't come free it comes at a hardprice lost of life.10
years from know someone might be building abuilding in Iraq & could
come across WMD that Saddum buried in the ground we allforgetting
something here Bin Laidin?
