Whew...after reading dfs' original posting I had the sudden urge to 
go home & beat my wife. Thank goodness Jim intervened & cooler heads 
prevailed before I got my ass whupped by a 3rd degree black belt.

and I'm no educator, but I believe the correct phrase in the subject 
should be An INAPPROPRIATE metaphor.
