Who would have thought four years ago that this would have happened:

The Future Starts Here ticket demolished what was left of Asbury
Park, sold off all Public assets and hasn't built a single new
beachfront ratable in 4 years. Taxes have gone sky high as Landmarks
crumble into the sea and the majority of people think this is great
progress.

Let's see, 4 years ago, what was my recommendation?:

- Shouldn't the C-8 skeleton have been finished first to show
competency before any more deals?
- Shouldn't the pavilions have been rehabilitated first to provide
amenities on the beachfront?
- Shouldn't the Albion, Virginia, Jersey, Palace, Lyric, Baronet,
Ambassabor, etc. etc., have been restored?
- Shouldn't the Con. Hall/Casino have been leased and restored
allowing the City to take advantage of the 20% Federal Tax Credit.

Picture how the beachfront would look today if these basics had been
implemented. Think of the tax ratables, jobs, tourism dollars and
positive economics.

None of the above would have impeded or interfered with
redevelopment. We would still be opening up streets and building
condos today.

A Restoration/Preservation ethic would have brought Asbury Park a lot
farther than we are today.

Perhaps the slogan should be:
"The Heritage Died Here"

Asbury Park, you have to live it to beleive it.
